Police are conducting an investigation after a man was found dead inside an area apartment.

The unidentified man's body was discovered around 4:36 p.m., Monday, March 2 in the City of Poughkeepsie after police received a 911 call asking for a welfare check.

The man was found inside an apartment at 399 Main St., said City of Poughkeepsie Police Det. Lt. Matt Clark.

Additional details were not available.

Police are awaiting the result of a pending autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing.
